AFRICAN HERITAGE EMERGING STUDENT LEADERS INSTITUTE

ABOUT THE INSTITUTE

The African Heritage Emerging Student Leaders Institute (AHESLI) was created in 2015 by Dr. Bola Delano-Oriaran.  AHESLI was established as a response to the needs of Black/African American students in Northeast Wisconsin.  It is a leadership opportunity for Black high school, college students, and K-12 school staff. AHESLI promotes higher education, career exploration, and job opportunities for students.  We are excited to be in Green Bay in 2022. FOR HIGH SCHOOL LEADERS

High School Student Leaders are involved in culturally relevant learning experiences that empower them to be successful at schools in predominantly white communities.  They are exposed to college admission, career exploration, and identity development workshops.

FOR COLLEGE LEADERS

College Student Leaders will engage in interactive and hands-on workshops on living, studying, while Black.   These leaders will have opportunities to meet with peers from surrounding colleges and also network with Black professionals from the community.  Workshop sessions include: Black Identities & Academic Excellence, Countering Stereotypes at PWIS & PWCs, and Connecting with Your Voices. Workshops are only open to our college and university partners.

FOR EDUCATORS

K-12 Educators are invited to join us for an evening of engaging workshops focusing on strategies that critically engage Black/African American students.  We are dedicated to supporting school districts in achieving success for Black/African American students.
